Grooming

Arnie’s of Essex is proud of our 5-star customer service. We groom every dog to the very best of our ability. Having said this, on occasion we may not be able to achieve the exact visual effect an owner is looking for on their first visit. Your dog’s pre-groom condition, type of hair and bone structure have a large effect on the finished cut. We keep records of each cut your dog has had with us, so the progression to the perfect cut can be followed and progressed on each time providing good coat condition is kept well in between visits.

Before a groom takes place, we will go through details with you to discuss what you wish to achieve from the groom and what we recommend for your pooch’s lifestyle and requirements.

De Matting

At Arnie’s of Essex we groom with love and care and do things the right way. We always follow and stand by the Animal Welfare Act . If a dog is presented to us in a severely matted or uncomfortable condition, we will seek the owner’s permission to de-matt them by clipping the coat very short or shaving, this will only happen if there is no alternative.

De matting is a painless way of getting rid of the matts for the dog and will give their skin a chance to breathe and recover. This in turn helps to encourage the new coat that comes through to be much healthier, and most importantly your dog feels refreshed and much more comfortable.

Occasionally after shaving, you may discover sores or irritation previously hidden by the matted hair. Should we discover anything, we will bring this to your attention post groom and our advice is always to get it checked out by your local vet.

Once your dog has been de-matted, we can then get your next groom booked in and we can then work on your desired groom style based on your preference and breed type. We can also offer advice and brushing techniques to prevent any serious matting in the future.

Pricing

We are very competitive in our pricing and will also make our pricing as clear as possible on our website, however this can be extremely difficult due to so many different breeds and coat types around. If asked we will give u an approximate price at time of booking, then a more accurate price once we have met and assessed your dog.  We reserve the right to adjust pricing with no given notice, but very much doubt the need to ever do this.

A surcharge may be applied post groom if the groom time exceeds its allocated time frame by over 20 minutes. This will be charged at the groomers hourly rate based on time exceeded.

Should your dog become too agitated or stressed during the groom to the point the groom cannot be completed or your dog’s safety is at risk, we reserve the right to terminate the groom immediately and you will still be charged full groom price.

Dogs

By booking your dog in with Arnie’s of Essex you are agreeing that your dog is fit, healthy, fully vaccinated, up to date with flea and worm treatment.

Fleas- Should we discover any fleas on your dog during the groom we will contact you to discuss options with you. In the instance your dog is infested with fleas, we reserve all rights to terminate your dogs groom with immediate effect and ask for your dog to be collected from us straight away. The full groom price plus a surcharge for a salon cleaning fee of £10 will be due on collection.

In instances when only a few fleas are witnessed during a groom, we will treat your dog with a medicated shampoo to kill any fleas present and complete the dogs groom however a £10 salon cleaning fee will be applied to the dogs groom price.

You agree that the groomer will not be held liable or responsible for irritation, patchiness or hair loss due to any skin conditions or because of the grooming process, de-matting, thinning, stripping or clipping.

You agree that you understand that with any groom there is an element of risk involved.

You agree that if the groomer becomes very concerned with your dog’s health whilst in their care that a Vet may be called in emergency situations. The owner of the dog is liable for all the veterinary fees.

You agree that all information provided about both yourself and your pet is correct and accurate and that any changes to your dog’s circumstances will be informed to us at the earliest convenience.

You agree to keep Arnie’s of Essex updated should anything change with regards to your dog’s health.

Should you wish for your dog not to be photographed please be sure to make your groomer aware before your furry friend is handed over for their pamper sessions.
